Share your Voice as a Patient Responder

The National Center for Interprofessional Practice and Education values people and communities at the center of healthcare. We are looking for patients and caregivers to share their experiences as Patient Responders at the Nexus Summit 2025. The Nexus Summit 2025 is the National Center’s annual virtual conference. Attendees include health professions educators, providers, and students.
The healthcare community needs many viewpoints so we can create systems that put people first. The National Center is looking for patients who come from many different backgrounds and cultures, have a variety of jobs, and are of different ages, races, and religions. As a Patient Responder, you will share your healthcare experiences and viewpoints with teams who are presenting their projects. These teams teach health professionals and provide care to patients. Your input helps our health teams better understand what patients need and want.
Please note that some sessions will clearly address the student and/or the patient perspective, but some will not. As a Patient Responder, you are encouraged to ask questions and share experiences with the presenters that help to better involve and consider those perspectives within their work in the sessions you attend.
You will be trained and supported during the sessions.
Time Commitment:
You will attend a one-hour training session in early September before the Nexus Summit. The Summit is on September 16, 17, 25, and 26. The training will teach you what to expect and answer your questions. During the Summit, you will participate in at least two one-hour presentation sessions (called Seminars). During the Seminars, attendees talk about their work. Your role will be to listen, participate, and share your experience and perspective. All Seminars are virtual and conducted via Zoom.
When:
Patient Responders will participate in at least two Seminars on September 16, 17, 25, and 26. We intend to assign one Patient Responder to each Seminar, and a maximum of 10 Seminars to each Patient Responder. After each Seminar, you will write down your thoughts in an electronic form and submit those each day. If you want to give your feedback verbally, you will attend a video call.
Technology Requirements:
A strong internet connection, a device such as a laptop or tablet, and a private workspace are necessary in order to participate in the Seminars and video calls, which will be held via the Zoom app.
Honorarium:
You will receive $300 for the training and the first two Seminars you attend. You will be paid an additional $100 for each session that you attend up to a maximum of 10 total sessions.
