Staying True to Our Northstar: Advancing Health in the Nexus
2025 has been a year of dramatic change in technology, policy, and financial models that impact day to day operations of higher education, the healthcare system, and social programs and priorities that contribute to health. We are only beginning to understand the impact that these changes will have on our daily work to advance interprofessional practice and education. Change is rarely easy, and often scary, but it also brings opportunities to reconsider familiar approaches and experiment with new strategies to solve long-standing, seemingly intractable challenges.
Join National Center for Interprofessional Practice and Education Director Christine Arenson as we acknowledge the reality of the rapidly changing landscape within which we work and reaffirm our steadfast commitment to our North Star of meeting the needs of our learners and the people they and we serve. We will discuss real-world examples and practical tools that help us shift our lens, leverage existing and new partnerships, and honestly reflect on our own data in ways that help solve problems for our institutions and our communities. How can we ensure that we contribute to indispensable solutions to the thorniest challenges that impact the health of individuals and communities? Come to learn more and join the conversation as we learn about, from and with each other as we navigate our current challenges and capitalize on new opportunities.
Learning Objectives:
At the conclusion of this plenary presentation, participants will:
- Discuss current and anticipated near-future changes that will impact how we design interprofessional practice and education to benefit learners and improve health of individuals and communities.
- Identify common themes nationally and locally that present opportunities for interprofessional practice and education experts to help solve local challenges and advance our shared interprofessional work.
- Consider new approaches and tools that enable local teams to examine their current interprofessional practice and education strategies from a new perspective, bring new stakeholders to the table, and reimagine how they deliver and measure impact of interprofessional practice and education initiatives.
