Alyssa Aguirre serves as the Assistant Director of Dementia Care Transformation for The University of Texas Dell Medical School and is Assistant Professor of Practice at the UT Steve Hicks School of Social Work. She has dedicated career to designing innovative models of support for family caregivers of individuals living with ADRD within health care systems. Alyssa’s mission is to improve the quality of life of older adults and their family caregivers through clinical practice, education, research and community collaboration. She is a proud volunteer as Chair of the Board of Directors at the Alzheimer’s Association Capital of Texas Chapter.

Background: Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias (ADRD) require coordinated, person- and family-centered care. Yet, interprofessional education (IPE) on chronic disease management remains underutilized in health professions training.
