Amber Evenson is a Physician Assistant with a strong commitment to rural healthcare and interprofessional education. She currently serves as a full-time Assistant Professor at the University of South Dakota bringing back real-world clinical experience to the classroom through her ongoing practice in an urgent care setting. She is an advocate for interprofessional education and committed to creating a learning environment that fosters collaboration from all healthcare backgrounds. Her research interests include interprofessional education, mental and nutritional health of students.

Background: Medical errors are among the leading causes of death in the United States. While the prevention of medical errors is often the focus in medical and interprofessional education, developing the skills to disclose errors to patients and their families when things go wrong is also important.
