Dr. Barnes is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pharmacy Practice at the Eugene Applebaum College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences in Detroit, Michigan. His research program evaluates the long-term clinical outcomes of those suffering critical illness. The long-term goal of this research is to characterize the impact of ICU drug interventions on patients’ outcomes (e.g. hospital readmission, one-year mortality) and experiences after hospital discharge. This work seeks to improve the quality of life of patients who survive critical illness.

Background: Team composition and size may influence student learning during interprofessional education events. This study investigated the impact of team size and composition (number of disciplines on a team) on changes in student interprofessional values and standardized patients’ (SPs) perceptions of team performance.
