Christopher Cooper is an Associate Professor in the School of Physician Assistant Studies at MCPHS University in Boston, Massachusetts. Dr, Cooper has been a Physician Assistant (PA) for 35 years and has promoted interprofessional education (IPE) even before IPE was a thing. He has helped train Independent Duty Corpsmen and Emergency Medical Technicians in the Air Force. He has also precepted PA and medical students. Dr. Cooper participates in four large-scale IPE activities per year at MCPHS University in Boston, MA.

Background: Social Determinants of Health (SDOH), such as insurance status may affect patients’ access to care and health outcomes, however health professions students often receive limited training in how these factors influence team-based care. This study aims are to evaluate the impact of incorporating (SDOH) into interprofessional Team Objective Structured Clinical Encounters (TOSCEs) by comparing facilitator evaluations of team performance and evaluate how patient insurance status influences team dynamics.
