Dr. Cynthia Stull, DHSc, MDH, is an Assistant Professor and Director of Dental Hygiene at the University of Minnesota, overseeing three programs. She developed the Oral Health Educator Certificate to address faculty shortages and has pioneered a dental hygiene hospital consult services and medical/dental care integration for vulnerable children. Her work emphasizes interprofessional collaboration and curriculum design that bridges dental hygiene and broader healthcare. Her research focuses on interprofessional identity, expanding dental hygiene’s role in healthcare, including HPV prevention and advanced technology use. She teaches leadership, interprofessional education, educational methodology, and is active in professional organizations promoting dental hygiene in healthcare.

Objective: As the integrated medical and dental model advances to improve patient care and outcomes, it is important to understand how dental hygienists will identify professionally as part of interprofessional teams.
