Dr Danielle M Torisky (PhD, RDN): Professor, Dietetics Program, Department of Health Professions. Has taught at JMU since 1991; has included the Modified Texture IPE Event in her Quantity Food Production class for over a decade. Earned BS Degree in Home Economics from Seton Hill College (1980), MS and PhD Degrees in Community/Public Health Nutrition from Virginia Tech (1984, 1987). She is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) since 1985. She is a certified ServSafe food safety Instructor and Exam Proctor. She has directed Master’s Thesis or Directed Research projects in the Dietetics Program for over 30 years at JMU.

Presenting at the Nexus Summit:

This session will describe a Modified Texture IPE Workshop designed to prepare Dietetics, OT, and SLP students to work collaboratively to address the complex nutritional needs of clients with dysphasia. IPE experiences, especially those aligned with real-world clinical scenarios, are particularly effective in improving students’ role clarity, collaboration skills, and preparedness for team-based care.
