Diane Levine MD is a board-certified internist and Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at Wayne State University. As Vice Chair for Education and Faculty Development she focuses her academic interests on developing innovative ways of educating health professional students. Her academic and research interests include addressing equity in the clinical learning environment and developing curricula in patient safety, quality improvement, interprofessionalism, and transitions across the educational continuum. As a practicing internist she is inspired daily to collaborate to improve the healthcare we deliver to patients and families.

Background: Team composition and size may influence student learning during interprofessional education events. This study investigated the impact of team size and composition (number of disciplines on a team) on changes in student interprofessional values and standardized patients’ (SPs) perceptions of team performance.
