Dominique Denbow is a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine candidate at UNECOM with a B.A. in Neuroscience and a minor in Middle Eastern Studies from Smith College, and a Premedical Certificate from UConn. A current ACR Project LEAD cohort member and former SNMA chapter vice president, she is committed to health equity and advocacy within and beyond clinical spaces. Her research interests span psychiatry, immunology, and neurodegeneration, with past work at Yale, Harvard, and MGH. She is currently engaged in research on Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS) at UNC. Outside of medicine, she enjoys baking shows, painting, The Sims, and snail mail.

Background:Racism in healthcare is a persistent problem that can manifest as overt discrimination or subtly as implicit biases. Historically, systemic racism in healthcare has caused trauma among certain racialized groups and structural barriers to health access further perpetuate racial inequities and disparities.
