Dr. Frank North, Pharm.D., M.P.A., instructional assistant professor in the Rangel College of Pharmacy and director of learning in practice for the Interprofessional Practice, Education, and Research (IPER) Office at Texas A&M University. He is a 2024 inaugural fellow in the American Academy of HIV Medicine (AAHIVM)'s Dr. Dawn K. Smith HIV Prevention Clinical Fellowship. Dr. North earned the Bachelor of Science in Biology, Doctor of Pharmacy, and Master of Public Administration degrees from Texas Southern University. He is licensed in Texas and the District of Columbia. Dr. North is immediate past president of the National Pharmaceutical Association.

As the HIV epidemic continues to disproportionately impact underserved communities, academic institutions must lead with innovation and collaboration. This talk addresses the critical role of HIV prevention in underserved communities, focusing on increasing awareness and access to PrEP. Through an HIV Prevention Fellowship, as a pharmacist who lacked specialized HIV training, I am able with interprofessional healthcare providers in metro and rural communities combat stigma, educate patients, and increase awareness, initiation and use among underserved populations.
