Dr. John Gilbert is a leader in health professions education in Canada and globally, leading the conceptualization of IPE as a central tenet of collaborative person-centred practice/care. He is founding Principal/Professor Emeritus, College of Health Disciplines, UBC; Senior Scholar, WHO Collaborating Centre on Health Workforce Planning and Research, Dalhousie. He is Founder/Chair, and Honourary Director- Canadian Interprofessional Health Collaborative; appointed a Fellow, Canadian Academy of Health Sciences (2008); Member of the Order of Canada, and awarded the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal (2011). He is Co-Editor- Journal of Research in Interprofessional Education and Editorial Board member- Journal of Interprofessional Care.

Purpose: The COVID-19 pandemic challenged healthcare practice worldwide. Ensuring effective collaboration between professionals is essential to meet population health needs during crisis. However knowledge on how to best prepare health professionals for interprofessional collaboration in crises is limited.
