Kaitlyn Wakefield is a graduate from the University of Pittsburgh, where she received a Bachelor's Degree in Neuroscience. She is a prospective medical student for the Fall of 2026. While applying to medical school, she works for the Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh through the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. As a patient care technician on the cardiac step-down unit, she works alongside multi-level provider teams to deliver care to long-term pediatric patients. Kaitlyn also has a range of clinical experience as an emergency medical technician in varying pre-hospital settings.

Clinical psychology doctoral students do not universally have primary or team-based care experiences. Likewise, student healthcare professionals may not interact with clinical psychologists in primary care, as this role is still emerging. Therefore, as a requirement, students in the Clinical PsyD program at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine shadow physicians and their accompanying medical students for four hours in clinic.
