Katie Kassin is a practicing physician assistant and an assistant professor at the University of South Dakota Physician Assistant Studies Program. She began her teaching career in 2019, after practicing clinically in urology for 10 years. In academia, her primary clinical medicine units of interest are dermatology, nephrology, men's and women's reproductive health, hematology/oncology and obstetrics/pediatrics.

Background: Medical errors are among the leading causes of death in the United States. While the prevention of medical errors is often the focus in medical and interprofessional education, developing the skills to disclose errors to patients and their families when things go wrong is also important.
