Dr. Kin S. Ly is an Associate Clinical Professor at the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine (UNE COM) and Co-Director of the Osteopathic Medical Knowledge (OMK) Course in Year 1. Dr. Ly earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a Minor in Education from Temple University, Doctor of Pharmacy from Temple University School of Pharmacy, and Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership from the University of New England (UNE). She attained the inaugural Distinction in Interprofessional Faculty Leadership offered by the Center to Advance Interprofessional Education and Practice (CAIEP) and is also the 2024 recipient of the Lisa Pagnucco Interprofessional Service Award at UNE. Currently, her research interests include interprofessional education (IPE) topics centered on social determinants of health (SDOH), racism in healthcare, and the effects of climate change on human and planetary health.

Background:Racism in healthcare is a persistent problem that can manifest as overt discrimination or subtly as implicit biases. Historically, systemic racism in healthcare has caused trauma among certain racialized groups and structural barriers to health access further perpetuate racial inequities and disparities.
