Lacey Alexander, PhD, RN (she/her) is a clinical associate professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Nursing. Lacey teaches undergraduate clinical rotations and didactic courses about policy and evidence-based practice. Lacey has created and coordinated interprofessional education experiences for nursing students, with the goal of exposing students early and often to high quality team-based patient care. Lacey practices clinically in forensic nursing, where she advocates for victims of violence by providing trauma-informed care while collaborating interprofessionally with hospital- and community-based clinicians and teams. Lacey also has experience in nursing leadership, emergency nursing, hospice nursing, and LGBTQ+ care coordination.

This Lightning Talk will describe how our institution uses a mock debate between various interprofessional health profession learners to explore the ethical considerations of whether an individual should be listed on a transplant registry. This unique format simulates discussions that often take place during ethics consults and challenges students to apply their individual professions’ codes of conduct to a realistic case while working as part of an interprofessional team.
