Laura Rothfeldt, DVM, DACVPM, is the State Public Health Veterinarian for the Arkansas Department of Health where she leads a team of One Health champions. Her focus is on zoonotic disease surveillance and outreach, including rabies prevention and education, vector-borne disease epidemiology, and emerging infectious disease response. Laura is a U.S. Army veteran, a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Epidemic Intelligence Service alumnus, a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Preventive Medicine and served in leadership roles with national and state-level organizations.

One Health is a collaborative, transdisciplinary approach to achieving optimal health outcomes that recognizes the interconnectedness of humans, animals, plants, and the environment. One Health initiatives expand considerations for interprofessional teams beyond traditional health system professions to include practice sites such as veterinarians, climatologists, and environmental biologists.
