Matthew R. Machado, Pharm.D. is currently a Professor in the Department of Pharmacy Practice at the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, School of Pharmacy-Boston. He successfully completed a community based PGY- 1 residency with Walgreens and the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. In his current position, Dr. Machado maintains an advanced community practice site at the Walgreens Patient Care Center in Chelsea, MA. Dr. Machado also serves as the residency program director and primary preceptor of the Walgreens and Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, School of Pharmacy-Boston, residency program.

Background: Team Observed Structured Clinical Encounters (TOSCEs) involving standardized patients (SPs) are an effective way to teach and evaluate core interprofessional skills and support learning to improve health outcomes. TOSCEs provide a method of evaluating interprofessional skills in a formative, low stakes environment.
