Merri Leigh Johnson, PT, DPT is a Board-certified Clinical Specialist in Neurologic PT with over 36 years of clinical experience treating adults with
Stroke, TBI, SCI, and medically complex diagnoses at Baylor Rehab Hospital in Dallas, Texas. In January 2020, Dr. Johnson accepted a faculty position at Texas Woman’s University School of Physical Therapy. She is currently an Associate Clinical Professor with a primary teaching focus on Assessment/Management of Neuromuscular Conditions; Examination, evaluation, and outcomes; Health promotion and wellness, as well as Clinical Integration/Decision making. Her areas of interest are student learning and retention, Health Literacy, and Motor Learning/Control.

Background: Fall prevention is a multi-factorial challenge requiring a unified, interprofessional approach to develop and implement effective, individualized strategies. Pre-service students need training in collaborative assessment and intervention to work together in addressing the complexity of mitigating falls for community-dwelling older adults.
