Michele Baqi-Aziz is an advanced practice nurse who specializes in community and public health, as well as maternal-child health. She has extensive clinical and teaching experience as a clinical nurse specialist. Dr. Baqi-Aziz has served as a faculty member in higher education, where she taught courses in community and public health, transcultural nursing, and maternal-child health. Throughout her career, she has held various positions in public health, including program coordinator, director of occupational health services, and health educator. Currently, Dr. Baqi-Aziz serves as a Lead Nurse Planner, overseeing the administrative and management functions of an accredited provider unit. In this role, she plans, implements, and evaluates educational activities. In addition, she provides clinical instruction in school nursing and primary health and conducts presentations on cultural competency for both professional and community audiences.

Nurses provide autonomous and collaborative care to individuals of all ages, groups, and communities, whether sick or healthy, and in various settings. School nurses work within educational environments, where students are their patients and teachers are part of their healthcare team. Despite often being educated on the same college or university campus, these two professions do not interact. This lack of interaction is problematic, as collaboration is expected in school settings.
