This seminar will provide faculty, clinical educators, and IPE leaders with promising practices for applying the 2023 IPEC Core Competencies to prepare learners for effective interprofessional collaborative practice. Participants will explore evidence-informed, immediately actionable strategies for integrating the competencies into curriculum design, assessment, and facilitation—across classroom, simulation, and clinical learning environments. Attendees will leave with adaptable tools and examples to ensure learners are not only introduced to interprofessional collaboration, but genuinely prepared to engage in it.

This session addresses Theme 6: Preparing Students for Interprofessional Collaborative Practice by translating the IPEC Core Competencies into applied teaching and assessment strategies. It moves beyond theoretical knowledge to focus on building learners' capabilities in shared values, role clarity, communication, and team-based decision-making. By strengthening these foundational skills, the session supports learners’ readiness to contribute to safe, person-centered, and team-based care—ultimately advancing the health and well-being of individuals and populations. The session will illustrate how to scaffold learning across diverse settings so that learners are not only exposed to interprofessional concepts but are truly ready to engage in collaborative care.

After attending this session, the learner will be able to:
1. Identify how the IPEC Core Competencies support learner readiness for interprofessional collaborative practice.
2. Describe basic instructional and assessment strategies aligned with the IPEC Core Competencies.
3. Use tools to begin designing or revising IPE learning activities that prepare students for team-based care.

Participants will gain access to:
- A competency-to-activity mapping worksheet that can be used to align curriculum with specific IPEC competentices..
- A guide for writing measurable, learner-centered IPE objectives.

The session will incorporate interactive, inclusive learning methods to engage participants. These include:
- Live polling to identify the most challenging IPEC competencies to teach and implement.
- Chat-based crowd-sourcing of examples and strategies from attendees.
- A scenario-based challenge where participants select appropriate assessment tools for a fictional interprofessional activity case study.

Alignment of Priority Criteria:
- Health equity and inclusive learning: Case scenarios reflect diverse, community-based care settings and emphasize the inclusion of all team members, including patients.
- Broad participation: The session is designed for ease of access and implementation across a range of institutions, including those with limited resources.
- Immediate implementation: All tools and templates shared during the session will be ready-to-use, adaptable, and require no specialized platforms or software.
- Practice-education alignment: Facilitators from both academic and clinical settings will co-lead the session, modeling interprofessional perspectives and reinforcing the alignment of IPE with real-world practice expectations. (Please note that additional speakers to be confirmed.)
