This lightning talk will describe the IPE Scholars Program, a program designed to foster and recognize IPE excellence in motivated student learners. This program allows students to receive a formal distinction on their diploma in interprofessional practice. Students from any profession are able to elect to apply to this program. While this program is still evolving, it currently focuses on helping students grow in IPE knowledge, skills, and practice.
We will describe how we recruit, engage, and track students as they navigate this program. Students from any discipline are welcome to apply. To complete the program, students complete two knowledge building activities, and a variety of IPE experiences across the learning spectrum. They participate in one introductory activity, two skill building activities, and one practice based opportunity. Additionally, IPE scholars complete a capstone project designed to foster skills in research, teaching, or leadership. During the program, students are matched with an advisor, typically with a different interprofessional background.
Now after building the program, we have implemented student and faculty evaluations of the program, and results are largely that this is a positive experience for both students and faculty.
