Alisa Woods, MS, CCC-SLP, is a certified master-level speech-language pathologist with over 31 years of clinical experience specializing in neurogenic disorders and dysphagia in adult populations, primarily in skilled nursing facilities. In January 2007, she joined the faculty at Texas Woman’s University in the Department of Communication Sciences and Oral Health. Now a Full Clinical Professor, Professor Woods focuses on teaching assessment and management of neurogenic communication disorders and dysphagia. Her professional interests include student learning and retention, stroke rehabilitation, traumatic brain injury (TBI), and swallowing disorders, with a continued commitment to evidence-based practice and clinical education.

Background: Fall prevention is a multi-factorial challenge requiring a unified, interprofessional approach to develop and implement effective, individualized strategies.
