Dr. McCarty is the Associate Dean for Research on the Duluth campus of the University of Minnesota Medical School and Professor and Interim Department Chair in the Department of Family Medicine and Biobehavioral Health. She teaches epidemiology/biostatistics and medical ethics to first and second year medical students. As a certified healthcare ethicist who has seen the negative consequences of communication breakdowns among health care professionals in clinical settings, she is passionate about interprofessional education.
