North Carolina Area Health Education Centers Program
Elyssa Tucker is the Health Professions Student Liaison at North Carolina AHEC Program Office as of October 2023. In this role, Elyssa works with regional AHECs to coordinate housing efforts for students and creates strategic plans for implementing and strengthening interprofessional experiences. In addition, Elyssa supports statewide initiatives like the Preceptor study and Rural Hubs. Academically, Elyssa has a master's in public health from Gillings School of Public Health at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Most recently Elyssa completed her CHES certification to further support students in North Carolina.

Background and Purpose: The North Carolina General Assembly recently enacted Session Law 2023-134. This legislation provided funding to the North Carolina Area Health Education Centers Program (NC-AHEC) to develop and implement five Rural Interprofessional Clinical Teaching Hubs (Teaching Hubs) incorporating two of more professions across the state.
