Dr. Karin Hamilton is a public health veterinarian currently serving as the Global Programs Coordinator at the University of Minnesota Pre-Health Student Resource Center (UMN PHSRC). She also is a Qualified Administrator of the Intercultural Development Inventory. Dr. Hamilton has taught courses related to global health and veterinary public health to undergraduate, graduate, and professional students. She was a group facilitator for UMN’s Foundations in Interprofessional Communication and Collaboration course for health professions students. Dr. Hamilton also co-created and taught an undergraduate course called “The New Health Professions Team”.

The University of Minnesota is a leader in developing interprofessional education for students in health professional programs. However, fewer opportunities exist for undergraduate pre-health students to learn about the collaborative nature of healthcare and prepare for the increasing interprofessional practice education in health programs.
