Dr. Yates is a general dentist and Associate Professor in the Department of Restorative Dentistry at CU School of Dental Medicine. She also serves as Assistant Director for the CU Center for Interprofessional Practice and Education. Dr. Yates graduated from Stony Brook University School of Dental Medicine in NY and completed a general practice residency at Illinois Masonic Medical Center in Chicago. Prior to moving to Colorado, Dr. Yates practiced in Chicago and ran the dental department within a large multi-specialty not-for-profit health center, and served as an attending in the Department of Dentistry at Illinois Masonic Medical Center.

Person-centeredness is essential to holistic health care and requires collaboration of healthcare professionals, patients, and caregivers. The University of Colorado (CU) delivers a one-credit Interprofessional Collaborative Practice (IPCP) course for 650 first-year students from dentistry, medicine, nursing, pharmacy, physician assistant, and physical therapy programs.
