Mitchell was born and raised along the Gulf Coast. In 2019, he decided to swap tropical storms for winter storms and moved to Upstate New York. He earned his MPH from Binghamton University, where he focused on population health and harm reduction. Broadly, his research examines structural drivers of health inequities among rural-dwelling LGBTQ people, with a particular focus on substance use and sexual health.
