Renée Broughten is Associate Dean of the Henrietta Schmoll School of Health Sciences and professor in the Department of Interprofessional Education, at St. Catherine University. She earned her Doctor of Chiropractic (DC) degree, and completed a residency in Diagnostic Imaging, at Northwestern Health Sciences University. She earned her PhD in Organizational Leadership, Policy, and Development from the University of Minnesota. She identifies evidence-based clinical practice as a foundation for providers from diverse disciplines to engage in interprofessional practice. She is interested in the use of Medical Improvisation to enhance communication, leadership, and teamwork skills.

There is a growing body of research supporting SimIPE as an effective way for students to achieve IPEC Core Competencies (Granheim et al., 2018; Labrague et al., 2018; Marion-Martins & Pinho, 2020; Welsch et al., 2018).
