Trenna Hart, BS, OTS, is a second-year occupational therapy student at Texas Woman’s University with a background in education and recreational therapy. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Education and is a former Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS), with experience supporting adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, as well as residents in assisted living, skilled nursing, dementia care, and long-term care settings. Before entering OT, she worked as a special education teacher. Trenna has a strong interest in interprofessional education and recently participated in a collaborative OT/PT service trip to Guatemala.

Background: Fall prevention is a multi-factorial challenge requiring a unified, interprofessional approach to develop and implement effective, individualized strategies. Pre-service students need training in collaborative assessment and intervention to work together in addressing the complexity of mitigating falls for community-dwelling older adults.
